Hey everyone,
There was a lot of buzz recently about the UAE supposedly offering golden visas to investors who stake $100,000 worth of TON tokens for three years. The package was rumored to include a ten-year residency and a processing fee of $35,000. Naturally, this generated massive interest in both the crypto and expat communities, and Toncoin's price even surged briefly as the news spread.
However, UAE authorities have now officially debunked the rumor. Several government agencies, including those responsible for visas and virtual assets regulation, issued a clear statement denying any such program exists. They emphasized that golden visas are awarded based on well-defined categories like investment in real estate, entrepreneurship, scientific achievement, arts, humanitarian work, and other established criteria—not through cryptocurrency staking.
They also clarified that the TON project is not recognized or licensed under any official UAE financial or immigration framework. The circulating offers were reportedly made through unofficial third-party intermediaries, not by the government itself. Once the denial was made public, Toncoin saw a quick correction in its price, dropping back down from its earlier gains.
This situation is a strong reminder of how quickly rumors can influence crypto markets and investor behavior. It also highlights the importance of verifying major claims directly from official sources, especially when those claims involve immigration or government policies.
So what do you think? Was this just a marketing stunt gone too far, or a genuine misunderstanding that spiraled out of control? And do you believe crypto should play a role in things like visa programs, or is that a step too far right now?
Would love to hear your thoughts on where crypto and real-world privileges intersect—and where we should draw the line.
